Is it possible?
Tights are a specific thing, and when using it, it is important to know exactly about all the rules of care.
Products from nylon
Tights for everyday wear with a density of more than 20 den can definitely be machine washed, but so that the thing does not deteriorate, it is important to consider a number of nuances:
- using the correct washing routine;
- placing linen in special bags;
- compliance with the temperature regime;
- the absence of tights dangerous for their integrity in the drum of the machine (with locks, zippers, Velcro, etc.).
Thin tights with a small amount of den can only be washed by hand. In addition, tights with pasted rhinestones, stones and other applications are not allowed to be washed automatically.
Compression
Automatic washing of compression tights is allowed, but there are some exceptions... An important rule is that if the product has silicone insert rings that are responsible for fixing it on the leg, it is forbidden to place it in the machine, in which case only hand washing is possible.

Hand wash instruction
The manual method is preferable for any type of laundry, thus avoiding the risk of damage to the structure and loss of shape. Depending on the type of product, there are nuances in choosing a detergent, water temperature and washing intensity.
For everyday tights
Each pair has a label with the designation of the rules of care (for linen made of different materials, these conditions may differ).
Here is a general algorithm for washing everyday tights:
- Before washing, you must remove rings and bracelets from your hands so as not to tear the delicate fabric.
- Pour warm water into the basin (the optimum temperature is 30-35 degrees).
- A small amount of baby liquid powder ("Eared nanny", "TeoBebe") or laundry soap without bleach ("EcoTherapy Kids", "Duru baby", "Aistenok") should be added to a container with warm water, then beat by hand to obtain foam ...
- In case of serious contamination, lather the problem area with soap separately and leave for half an hour.
- Dip the tights in a basin of soapy water for 20-30 minutes, then wash with light pressure movements without friction.
- Rinse under running water, twist into a lump and squeeze out with light pressure without twisting or stretching the fabric.
How to wash medical stockings?
Compression garments are washed based on the frequency of use. With a short wear, you can resort to the procedure 2-3 times a week.
The algorithm looks like this:
- Fill a basin with warm water at a temperature of 40 degrees.
- Pour the detergent into the container. It is recommended to use specialized formulations for compression garments, for example, Sigvaris or Ergoforma gel.
If such a composition is not at hand, it is allowed to use delicate compositions intended for children's underwear (cream-soap "Eared nanny", "BioMio", gel "Synergetic", etc.)
Stir the water slightly to achieve a slight foam. Soak the product in soapy water for half an hour.
- Wash without effort and rinse in warm water.
- It is not recommended to squeeze out, it is better to leave the tights unfolded in an empty bath for an hour so that excess water will come out.
Compression tights must not be washed with laundry soap. Fatty acids in its composition damage the structure of the product.
Before the next wash, it is necessary to dilute ethyl alcohol and water in a ratio of 1 to 3 and carefully wipe all the silicone rings with the resulting composition with a cotton pad. After the procedure, it remains to start a standard wash.
Washing machine
Washing tights in a machine must be approached especially carefully, making sure that all the rules are followed - any excessively intense mechanical stress can ruin the thing.
Conventional
Rules for washing tights in a machine:
- Choose a delicate mode with a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees ("Delicate wash", "Synthetics: delicate wash", "Delicate laundry", "Silk").
- Set the washing mode without spinning (if spinning is provided in the machine's program, it must be turned off manually).
- Wash tights separately from other items.
- Before washing, place the laundry in special mesh boxes (bags) that prevent the formation of puffs and stretching of the material.
- Use appropriate products, powders. It is necessary to use compositions intended for delicate washing (children's gel "Frosch", "Burti", "Eared nanny", etc.). Please note that the packaging must indicate that the product is intended for automatic washing, otherwise there will be problems with cleaning the foam;
- Separate by color and wash colors separately from whites and flesh.
Anti-varicose
If the purchased medical device has no restrictions for washing in a machine, then it is important to consider the following rules:
- The item should be placed in a special mesh bag or pillowcase to prevent the fibers from stretching.
- It is unacceptable to use bleaches and conditioners, you should use only specialized products (MediClean, Burti for compression underwear), liquid formulations for baby underwear (Johnson's Baby, Green Love, etc.).
- It is allowed to wash at minimum speed with a water temperature not higher than 40 degrees.Preferred modes: Delicates, Delicates, Delicates, Hand wash, etc.
- The compression hosiery must be washed separately; nothing else must be put into the drum.
- It is forbidden to spin in automatic mode, as well as to use tumble dryers to dry stockings.
Correct drying
It is necessary to dry nylon or cotton tights away from heating appliances; it is not recommended to leave the laundry in direct sunlight or use a hair dryer to quickly evaporate moisture.
Because of this, the fibers of the product lose their elasticity, and it loses its shape and appearance.
It is best to hang tights, after having wrung them out, on a dryer or clotheslinefolded several times. Thus, the product will not stretch and dry as quickly as possible.
To make the tights dry faster, after washing they can be laid out on a terry towel and thoroughly soaked - this will maximize the removal of moisture from their synthetic fabric.
When it comes to drying compression tights, they cannot be placed vertically.... After washing, they are left spread out in an empty tub to drain, and then laid out on a terry towel or cloth that absorbs moisture well.
Removing pellets
After washing and constant wearing, small pellets may appear on the tights, which significantly spoil the appearance of the thing. They appear most often on low-quality linen, with which it is far from always possible to do something.
To fix the problem, you can use the following tools:
- Old razor... We stretch the dried stocking on the hand or something imitating a mannequin, and remove the pellets with gentle movements.
It is not always possible to shave off stray fibers; there is also a risk of cutting through the fabric;
- Pilling machine... This device is indispensable in everyday life, since with its help you can effortlessly remove spools or holds from almost any material.
To avoid the problem of the appearance of pellets on the tights during washing, they must be turned inside out.
