How to wipe off a fresh stain?
It is not difficult to wash off a fresh blot if you act quickly. The cleaning method depends on the type of paint:
- alkyd - blot with a napkin with nail polish remover, acetone, lighter gasoline or any other solvent that is at hand;
- oil - wash the damaged area with cold water and laundry soap or Fairy;
- water-based - treat the fabric with a napkin dipped in water or alcohol, clean it with a soft brush;
- watercolor - wash the painted area under running water, wash with any powder or laundry soap;
- stamp (mastic, ink) - cover the blot with salt, starch, baking soda until it is completely absorbed (until the substance stops staining), then treat the stain with hot water, wash.
When removing a fresh stain:
- Do not rub or smear paint. So the area of damage will be much larger.
- The blot must be gently blotted with a napkin or removed from the edges to the center.
- When using solvents, gasoline, turpentine, make a test first in an inconspicuous area.
What's the safest way to remove stubborn dirt?
The choice of solvent for removing paint from outerwear depends on the complexity of the stain, its size, type of material, type of contamination.
White Spirit
The solvent copes well with blots from any type of paint (oil, alkyd, acrylic). It is safe for fabric materials, does not discolor the pattern.
To wipe the stain:
- The jacket should be placed on a firm, level surface. Place a clean napkin under the damaged area from the wrong side.
- Apply some solvent to a cotton swab.
- Wipe off the paint carefully, being careful not to go beyond the stain.
To speed up the cleaning process, you can put a cotton pad moistened with white spirit on the spot for 10-15 minutes.
After processing, the jacket should be washed in the usual way with the addition of fabric softener. Likewise, you can use nail polish remover or regular acetone.
Gasoline, turpentine, kerosene
Effective for removing fresh or dried stains.
The instruction is as follows:
- a little product needs to be applied to the blot;
- leave for 10 minutes to soak the paint;
- wipe off with a cotton pad or soft brush.
Only purified substances can be used. They are fabric-safe, streak-free.
Rubbing alcohol
You can easily clean a synthetic or leather jacket with undiluted cleaner.
The algorithm of actions is standard:
- Place a napkin soaked in alcohol on the stain and leave for 15 minutes.
- Clean.
- Rinse the area with running water. Wash clothes completely.
Alcohol removes fresh marks well. It does poorly with dried spots, especially on jackets made of natural materials.
Warm alcohol can be used in the first stage of complex cleansing. It softens the base of the colorants, helps solvents or other means to remove stains from the jacket.
Laundry soap and baking soda
Thick foam will help remove traces of water emulsion from any kind of outerwear:
- The damaged area should be thickly lathered with laundry soap.
- Leave for half an hour.
- To wash. Gently brush the stained areas with a brush.
- Rinse. Wash normally.
For cleaning heavily soiled jackets that are not afraid of exposure to very high temperatures, you can use a mixture of soap chips, baking soda and hot water (5 tablespoons per 1 liter):
- in a soap-soda composition, clothes need to be boiled for 15 minutes;
- leave to soak until cool;
- brush;
- rinse, wash in a washing machine.
Dishwashing liquid
Fairy can be used as an express tool to quickly remove fresh drops from oil, water-based, acrylic, watercolor paint.
A little remedy:
- apply to fabric with a toothbrush;
- rub gently;
- wash clothes with the addition of fabric softener.
To wash off water-based paint from a leather jacket:
- The top layer of the blot must be carefully removed with a knife or blade.
- In 200 ml of water, froth 1 tbsp. l. Fairy.
- Apply a thick foam to the painted area with a sponge.
- When the mark disappears, wipe the skin dry. Apply any emollient cream (cosmetic hand cream, baby cream, special shoe cream).
How to cleanse with vegetable oil?
Suitable for removing fresh stains from bolognese or leather jackets:
- Apply some sunflower oil on a cotton swab or soft napkin.
- Treat the stained area, periodically changing the cotton wool to fresh, until the stain disappears.
- Wipe with a clean cloth dampened with warm water. Dry. On a leather product, you can apply a special coloring cream, matched to the color, or shoe wax. The fabric jacket is to be washed.
If the paint has time to dry, to enhance the effect, you can use baking soda:
- prepare a thick gruel (for 1 tbsp. l. oil needs about 3 tbsp. l. soda);
- apply on the stain, leave for 15 minutes;
- clean with a brush, rinse with warm water.
The oil should not be used for jackets made from natural fabrics.
Choosing a product for different materials
When starting to remove stains, you need to take into account the type of fabric from which the outerwear is sewn.
Leather clothing (natural or artificial)
Fresh drops are needed:
- Blot with a paper towel.
- Rub the damaged area with laundry soap or Fairy. Better to use a toothbrush.
The bristles will help remove pigment marks from pores or natural folds in the material.
- Remove the remaining foam with a damp cloth.
You will need solvent, oil, or alcohol to wipe away stubborn stains. Do not use hot water or steam.
Bologna
The measures depend on how long ago the thing was soiled:
- you can try to wash off just splashed drops with a strong jet of running water;
- fresh marks - treat with heated medical alcohol, vodka or ammonia;
- dried - with turpentine, kerosene or acetone.
Polyester
For artificial materials, any means that corrode coloring pigments are safe.
If a spot is found, you need:
- Remove the top layer with salt, baking soda, scrape off with a knife or razor.
- Wash the damaged area with soap or Fairy.
- Blot the dye absorbed into the fabric with a napkin with solvent, gasoline, acetone.
Dried stains from oil paint must be softened with an alcohol lotion before washing.
Features of cleansing depending on the color
When choosing how to remove paint, you need to take into account not only the type, but also the color of the fabric.
White
Care must be taken when handling such clothing as thinners, gasoline or turpentine can leave yellow or gray streaks.
If that doesn't work, mild chlorine or optical brighteners are acceptable.... At the same time, it is not worth washing a white down jacket in "White". The fabric will turn yellow quickly.
Black
Use refined gasoline, turpentine, or acetone to clean dark material. Fresh stains can be removed with laundry soap.
Bleach, baking soda, alcohol or solvents will leave bleached areas, they cannot be used.
What if the type of dye is unknown?
It is not always possible to determine which dye stain is left on the jacket.
In this case, it is worth trying safe cleaning methods first:
- Carefully remove the drop with a hard tool (knife, scissors, nail file) until it is dry.
You need to act carefully, collecting the paint from the edge to the center, being careful not to damage the material.
- Wash the stained area with cool water and laundry soap or dish detergent.
- Use stain remover for colored or white laundry, depending on the color of your jacket.
Expensive jackets made of capricious material should not be cleaned by yourself. It will be safer to go to a dry cleaner and entrust the removal of paint to professionals.
Conclusion
The fresher the drops of dye, the easier it is to remove them from outerwear.... Most often, a damp cloth and soap are sufficient for cleaning.
Dried stains (especially from oil or acrylic paint) deeply embedded in the fibers of the fabric are almost impossible to remove.
